Glad you found your way here! This is the best page on my website for anyone who is new to making juice at home and wants some basic info.
My website was started close to a decade ago! I created it in order to help people with picking out a juicer for leafy greens. Leafy greens were (and still are in many health circles) all the rage for juicing.
However, as the website has grown over the years, I’ve found that there are people who visit who are looking for other type of juicer. Some people might only want to juice organges, for instnace. If that’s the case, then you’d obviously want to use a different juicer than if you were making green drinks.
So, I’ve collected a few of my personal favoriate juicers for every type of juicing that you might want to make.
I have added a link to each juicer on Amazon. While you might be able to find these at your local big box store, or elsewhere, I do suggest buying a juicer online because of the protection that you get from online purchases. Plus, if you happen to be a Prime member, you are eligible for free shipping in most cases which is great and a real money saver.
I’ve broken this guide down into the essentials:
- Best Wheatgrass Juicer
- Best Orange Juice Juicers (Manual and Electric)
- Best Lemon Juicer (everyone should own one !)
- Best All Purpose Juicer
This guide will be short, quick, and to the point. If you are interested in more in depth articles, be sure to stick around and check out some of the posts on my site.
But this will jumpstart the process if you’re just looking for a good juicer. Trust me, I’ve been juicing for over a decade!
Table of Contents
A Manual Juicer: Best For Wheatgrass
Someone who is only making wheatgrass only needs a wheatgrass juicer. While the Omega juicer listed at the end of this page is how I juice wheatgrass, it’s not the only way. I use a juicer to make green drinks and also juice fruit, so I need a masticating juicer.
But if you plan on only making wheatgrass, and you’d like to have a jucier that doesn’t run on electricity, then we’ve got you covered here.
This wheatgrass juicer is the best rated and reviewed of all of the manual wheatgrass juicers on the market. It’s solid, strong, and does what it’s supposed to do: juice wheatgrass. Face it, there’s not much more that you can ask of a juicer.
A Manual Juicer for Oranges
Oranges are one of the few things that I don’t reccomend juicing in my favorite juicer (the omega). Especially if you’re looking for that classic orange juice texture and flavor.
If you want a smooth orange juice, the style that you get when you make fresh squeezed juice, you need an orange juice press. A regular juicer or a masticating juicer will make it way, way too pulpy. You want the press!
And this is the best orange juice press juicer in my humble opinion.
An Electric Juicer for Oranges
While I prefer to always hand squeeze oranges and other citrus, I know that there are some people who want to use a motorized citrus squeezer. There are a few reasons to do this. Some people or companies need to make a huge ammount of orange juice. Places like restaurants, hotels, and bed and breakfasts. You even see electric orange juicers at places like Whole Foods.
So, if you’re not keen on using hand strencgh to juice your oranges, then this is a solid pick.
A Lemon aka Citrus Juicer
Everyone needs a good lemon juicer (or limes) so this is the citrus juicer that I reccomend to everyone. Simply stated, it is the strongest juicer available. It also has the largest capacity. You can put the entire half cut lemon or lime into the juicer and juice it.
Most importantly, it won’t break like so many of the fragile juicers do. That is a real and serious problem with many juicers out there. They are simply too fragile. This one just aint. It’s built tough.
A Masticating Juicer for Leafy Greens
Here is where my personal favorite juicer comes in. It’s the workhorse juicer that can juice anything.
- Wheatgrass? Check
- Leafy Greens? Check
- Hard Vegetables like carrots and celery? Check and Check
- Apples and Pears? Check
And besides that, it also can make sorbets, almond butter, frozen “nice cream” with bananas, berry sorbet, and even pasta.
If there is a single juicer I would reccomend to anyone who wants to get started juicing, then this would be it!
