Are Aicok juicers worth the purchase? Is it something that will stand up over time? These are popular questions, especially since the arrival on the scene of these masticating juicers that are very cheap when compared to the big brands: Omega, Kuvings, and Greenstar.
But are they good? Here’s my review and some thoughts.
Where is the Aicok Juicer Made?
China. The Aicok is made in China, which is probably a red flag for many people. All of the other major brands are made in South Korea. If you are someone who is concerned about the manufacturing processes in China, or about the ethical considerations of the factories in China (such as Apple using factories where people tried to commit suicide) then that can be an issue.
That said, you are not buying food. Food products from China are a real problem. As a general rule, most people who are health conscious are going to avoid food products from China. There is too much risk. The history of China factories making dangerous food product (see the scandal involving baby milk formula) has made people.
Things made in China have the reputation as being cheap, and dispensible. They are not known for being long lasting. So, it’s something to keep in mind.
Omega, Kuvings, and Greenstar all are made in South Korea. So, for this round, I’d place the advantage on the other brands. If you’re someone who is comfortable buying China made appliances, then that’s fine. Just keep on mind.
Is the Aicok Juicer a True Masticating Juicer?
The Aicok makes both masticating and non-masticating juicers. It’s your job to decide which you want to buy. As you know, if you’ve read any of the articles on my website, I always tell people to choose an auger juicer. There’s absolutely no reason to choose a centrifugal juicer.
Can you juice Leafy Greens with The Aicok?
Yes you can. As long as you choose an Aicok masticating juicer, you will be able to juice leafy greens and spinach. However, one thing I want you to be mindful of is that there are many reviews online and on Amazon that describe concern. People who are used to juicing hard vegetables of leafy greens, have expressed concern that the Aicok juicers are not as strong and durable as Omega or other more expensive and well made models.
So, if you’re planning on making leafy green juices, or juicing celery and carrots, then you’ll want to take a long look at the reviews.
If you’re planning on making simply juices (apples, and baby spinach, and pineapple) and are not planning on making hard vegetable juices and lots of leafy greens (kale and spinach and parsley) then this should be good.
How Slow Is The Aicok Juicer?
The Aicok is a slow juicer, as in a slow press juicer. It functions around 80rpm, which is standard and a good speed for an auger juicer.
The design is good because you don’t get a build up of heat. So, in this regard, the Aicok juicer is on par with other more expensive juicers.
Why Is The Aicok Juicer Cheap?
It’s cheap because it is made in China. That’s the simple truth. Products made in China are cheap because the Chinese people do not receive the same living wage as people in countries such as Japan, Korea, or the United States. Labor costs are cheaper in countries such as China (and India and Mexico) so products that come from these locations are going to cost less.
The working conditions and living conditions and quality of the products from these countries are all other factors. There are many reasons why economists believe that this is not only unethical but also dangerous for the economy (you can read more about it in the Harvard Business Review). And that doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface of the dangers faced by the low paid workers in China. See, for instance, the suicide nets used in factories.
But cheap doesn’t always mean bad. Many products are cheaply made in China and work just fine. Chances are many dishes and cheap electronics you use are made in China. The concern with a large, heavy duty appliance is that there are more moving parts and the device needs to do more.
Who Should Buy the Aicok Juicer?
Honestly, if you are just starting out and are new to juicing and you don’t want to spend a lot of money. Then the Aicok is a good choice. It’s a capable juicer that will juice leafy greens.
If you’re someone who wants to get a taste for juicing, and is not sure if you’re going to integrate daily juicing into your meal prep.
If, after a year or two, you feel like you moving up, you can then get an Omega or Kuvings or Greenstar juicer. So, it’s not a bad start for a new juicer.
Aicok Juicer Warranty
If you look at the official Aicok website and read what they state. There is a limited warranty that you will get (on the website they list 24 months) but be aware that this is a limited warranty of 30 days.
But be mindful that there are people who write reviews who list that they have had difficulty dealing with customer support. So, always keep that in mind when purchasing a large kitchen appliance.
Final Judgement – My Review and Thoughts On Aicok
My final thoughts are as follows. First,if you have never juiced before, it’s still worth it to get an Omega or Kuvings. I have a more detailed review and coverage of those juicers here if you want to read.
That said, if you’re looking for a cheap and affordable juicer then the Aicok is a suitable option. It’s not my favorite juicer honestly, just because there are some issues. Here are what I see as the big problems with this particular brand:
- Bad Customer Support
According to many reviews on amazon, the customer support could be better. Some people have real problems with the brand.
- Warranty
You will get better warranty with the other juicer brands.
- Durability
There are enough concerns about the durability of the Aicok brand to warrant close review.
- Not Just Juicers
Aicok makes damn near everything. Juicers, but also coffee makers, kettles, and lots other things.
The juicers get a decent amount of good reviews on amazon, so they will work for the casual user. But if you are looking for a heavy duty, commercial quality masticating juicer that is capable of juicing leafy greens and hard vegetables, I’d look elsewhere.
